Cloud Performance Engineer
DRWAbout the Role
Join DRW's Cloud Performance Team as a Cloud Performance Engineer to design and optimize high-performance cloud solutions for latency-sensitive trading workloads. You will work alongside cloud engineers, software developers, Linux, and network engineers to build scalable hybrid cloud architectures and monitoring systems.
- Design and implement cloud and hybrid cloud architectures for latency-sensitive trading workloads
- Build and maintain systems that continuously monitor latency characteristics of distributed hybrid workloads
- Work on orchestration tooling for provisioning cloud resources, networking configurations, and server-side processes
- Build backend systems for collecting performance metrics and tooling to query it
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS), with deep knowledge of networking and compute services (EC2, VPC, Direct Connect); good overview of the AWS service landscape and core concepts such as IAM
- Experience in using IaC tools such as Terraform to manage both cloud infrastructure and a broad set of compute and networking resources (docker, K8s, Cisco devices)
- Experience in network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP) and major routing protocols
- Solid understanding of Linux systems and the Linux network stack
- Strong background in automation via Bash scripting and Python programming, ideally in conjunction with orchestration through serverless cloud services
- Demonstratable experience working with modern AI coding agents, balancing rapid prototyping with critical review to ensure simplicity and quality of deliverables
- Able to implement systems with a security-first mindset, adhering to firm-wide security policies, and best practice implementations
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to independently drive work to completion
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
- Experience building data pipelines for centralizing structured data
- Experience working with Cisco routing and switching hardware
- Experience working with Google Cloud Platform
- Experience programming in a compiled languages (preferably Go or C++)
- Experience with Linux kernel bypass techniques such as DPDK
