Flow Traders
🇭🇰Hong KongFull-timePosted June 11, 2026

About the Role

Flow Traders is seeking an experienced Operations Specialist to join the APAC team in Hong Kong, supporting our proprietary trading business. This role sits within the first-line controls function and is central to trade lifecycle management, reconciliations, settlement, and control processes that directly support trading desks.

You will perform daily trade reconciliations, position monitoring, P&L attribution, and cash/cost reconciliation across multiple asset classes and prime brokers. You will investigate and resolve trade breaks, settlement issues, and corporate action events while liaising with counterparties, custodians, and prime brokers. The role emphasizes process analysis, automation, and continuous improvement—you will analyse operational processes end-to-end, design improved solutions, and leverage AI-assisted tools and scripting (Python, SQL) to build automated reconciliation, reporting, and control workflows.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of mid/back-office or operations experience, preferably within a proprietary trading firm, hedge fund, or prime brokerage
  • Strong technical literacy: you must be able to read, understand, and reason about code (Python, SQL) and data structures, whether you write it yourself or work with AI tools to generate it
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse complex process flows, understand the underlying business logic, and translate that into clear, implementable solution designs
  • Solid understanding of trade lifecycle processes across listed equities, ETFs, futures, FX, and/or OTC derivatives
  • Experience with reconciliation frameworks, clearing and settlement workflows, and familiarity with Asian securities markets and their respective rules
  • Comfort working with AI-assisted development and productivity tools to accelerate solution delivery
  • Ability to work with large datasets, perform analysis, and translate findings into actionable process improvements
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with a proactive, assertive, and flexible approach
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage a diverse range of tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
