About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Data Center Engineer to join our team in Secaucus, NJ. This role requires hands-on work with physical servers, network infrastructure, and IT components across various colocation facilities. You'll be responsible for the physical setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of server and network hardware, while ensuring smooth operations and accurate documentation. Core hours are Monday–Friday from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm, based in Secaucus, NJ, with required travel to local colocation facilities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in data center engineering
  • Strong understanding of server hardware, network devices, and data storage systems
  • Knowledge of network cabling, fiber optics, and optical transceivers
  • Experience with fiber optic testing and cleaning is required
  • Basic knowledge of Linux operating systems and networking protocols
  • CCNA certification is a plus
  • Proven experience in racking, cabling, and working with data center facilities management tools (power, cooling, etc.)
  • Familiarity with basic scripting in Bash and Python within a Linux environment is a plus
  • Strong ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment, and adapt to changing requirements
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, often with minimal supervision
  • Ability to safely lift and move equipment weighing up to 60 pounds
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required
  • A valid driver's license is required for travel between facilities
