About the Role

Commodity trader based in New York working closely with local and global commodities teams to manage commodity delta one and options book with an emphasis on larger, longer tenor trades. You will run systematic and more discretionary strategies while seeking opportunities to grow them. The role involves understanding the full trade lifecycle from signal and idea generation through execution to book and risk management, partnering with sell-side counterparts for risk lay-off, and leveraging trader intuition to identify special situations.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in commodity trading options (gas, power or oil preferred)
  • Familiarity with the inter-dealer broker market and transacting bilaterally
  • Able to think critically and implement new ideas
  • Understanding of commodity market structure and sources of natural order flow in the market
  • Strong quantitative skills in understanding options pricing and risk management
  • Open to learning new techniques
  • Strong communicator with excellent planning, analytical, and people skills; comfortable coordinating across time zones
  • Reliable and flexible team player with a positive attitude
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and thorough, with a desire for continuous improvement
  • Willingness to spend multiple weeks a year traveling to London and Hong Kong is a plus
  • Interest in the whole lifecycle of a trade from understanding the signal and idea generation, through trade execution and then book and risk management
  • Ability to manage sell-side counterpart relationships strategically
  • Trader intuition and ability to analyze special situations
