Campus C++ Software Engineer (Intern)
Jump TradingAbout the Role
An intensive 10-week software engineering internship within Jump Trading's core development team, focusing on designing, coding, testing, and maintaining their distributed trading system. You will work on production-targeted projects that go through the full development lifecycle using Agile methodologies, learning the fundamentals of large-scale, high-performance infrastructure while sharpening C++ programming skills. You'll work alongside experienced software engineers with dedicated mentorship throughout the summer, gaining exposure to what it's like to work full-time at Jump—a proven pathway to earning full-time opportunities with the firm.
Requirements
- You write clean, production-quality code and take pride in the craft — not just making it work, but making it right
- You are self-driven and proactive, with a natural instinct to take ownership and push through ambiguity
- You collaborate well across teams — trading, operations, finance, and engineering all depend on what we build
- You thrive in a fast-paced trading environment where priorities shift, projects need to move quickly, and you constantly need to pick up new skills and knowledge
- You are genuinely curious about how things work under the hood — systems, markets, data flows — and you go deeper than the surface
- You use AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, etc) to move faster — and you have the judgment to know when to trust the output and when to question it
- You're rigorous with data — you dig into large datasets to resolve complex issues, and you don't trust easy conclusions
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- Proficient in C++ with hands-on experience working with large-scale systems
- Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, system design, networking concepts and operating systems
- Solid debugging skills and the ability to navigate unfamiliar codebases quickly
- Comfortable working on Linux — command line, debugging, and bare-metal environments
- Candidates should be interested in working in Singapore for their full-time job after graduation
