About the Role

This is an intensive 10-week internship at Jump Trading's Singapore office within the Core Development team. You will work with experienced software engineers on data analytics and high-impact products that connect data better with the daily trading environment. Through mentorship and hands-on development, you'll sharpen your Python skills by researching, analyzing, and building solutions that help the business make sense of data and streamline the trade cycle.

  • Work with experienced software engineers with dedicated mentorship throughout the summer
  • Use Python programming skills to build high-impact products supporting exciting new initiatives
  • Collect and analyze datasets to identify patterns, gain insights, and discover new opportunities
  • Take on production code projects and gain experience with full-cycle development, testing, and release processes

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • Proficient in Python with hands-on experience building and maintaining production systems
  • Comfortable working on Linux — command line, debugging, and bare-metal environments
  • Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and system design
  • Solid debugging skills and the ability to navigate unfamiliar codebases quickly
  • You write clean, production-quality code and take pride in the craft — not just making it work, but making it right
  • You're rigorous with data — you dig into large datasets to resolve complex issues, and you don't trust easy conclusions
  • You are self-driven and proactive, with a natural instinct to take ownership and push through ambiguity
  • You collaborate well across teams — trading, operations, finance, and engineering all depend on what we build
  • You thrive in a fast-paced trading environment where priorities shift and projects need to move quickly
  • You are genuinely curious about how things work under the hood — systems, markets, data flows — and you go deeper than the surface
  • You use AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, etc) to move faster — and you have the judgment to know when to trust the output and when to question it
  • Candidates should be interested in working in Singapore for their full-time job after graduation
  • Experience with Kafka, or data pipeline tooling
  • Background in statistics or data analysis
  • Experience with Rust or C++
  • Competitive programming background
  • No finance or economics experience required — we'll teach you the domain
