Systems Engineer (Weekend Warrior)

As a Systems Engineering Weekend Warrior at Jump Trading Group, you'll work a modified 4- or 5-day week including Saturday and Sunday to support the company's global infrastructure on a full-time basis. Working approximately one-third of weekends annually on a schedule agreed with colleagues, you'll perform 12-hour shifts that overlap with other time zones during "on" weekends, with two weekdays off. The role focuses on global infrastructure projects and technical troubleshooting, with Jump's heavily automated systems allowing most time to be dedicated to project work while maintaining availability for immediate support as needed.
- Work on global projects across a wide range of infrastructure
- Manage and resolve technical issues with high technical complexity
- Develop diagnostic and troubleshooting tools for difficult problems
- Participate in diverse engineering projects across the organization
Requirements
- An insatiable desire to learn
- Expert Linux knowledge
- Some Networking knowledge and a willingness to learn more
- Scripting competence with either Go or Python (and a willing to learn both)
- Extensive experience profiling and debugging application stacks
- Extensive experience designing, building, and maintaining complicated systems
- Experience with system configuration management tools (Salt, Puppet, Ansible, etc.)
- A compulsion to perform root-cause analysis
- Reliable and predictable availability
- Deeply technical resource with exceptional troubleshooting skills
