About the Role

Join Optiver's newly established AI Lab in Shanghai as a technical leader driving innovation at the intersection of advanced AI and trading technology. You will establish the lab's technical vision and long-term roadmap, build a world-class team of AI researchers and engineers, and explore cutting-edge areas including deep learning, foundation models, generative AI, and reinforcement learning. This independent innovation engine will serve as a strategic research arm for one of the world's leading market makers.

Requirements

  • PhD or equivalent experience in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, or related field
  • Deep expertise in modern ML techniques (e.g., deep learning, transformers, RL, generative models)
  • Proven track record of research, publications, or system-level innovation
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous, open-ended environments
  • Ability to balance long-term vision with milestone-driven progress
  • Clear, compelling communicator who can inspire and influence across disciplines
  • Strong ability to present complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
