About the Role

Optiver FPGA Engineers build hardware systems where nanoseconds matter, working on highly parallel algorithms, low-level networking, and latency-critical applications in live markets. As an FPGA Engineer Intern, you'll own a project connected to Optiver's live trading systems over a ten-week internship, experiencing tight feedback loops and shipping code to production alongside Engineers and Traders. You'll work side-by-side with a mentor to build latency-critical applications, parallel systems, and networking interfaces, tackling real issues such as supporting new networking protocols (25G/100G interfaces), developing FPGA applications to improve trading strategies, optimizing resource usage, and pioneering new domain areas like high-precision timestamping and proprietary communication protocols.

Requirements

  • Student working toward a Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or similar
  • Ability to work full-time upon graduation in 2028
  • Strong engineering instincts and academic experience in digital design with FPGAs or ASICs
  • Passionate for clean code, simple well-architected systems and continuous improvement, with a desire to understand how the systems you build fit into our trading activities
  • Able to collaborate with developers, traders and business operations
  • CV in English required with application
  • Willing to complete online assessments within 7 days if selected to proceed
