About the Role

Virtu's Atlas Development team is a highly talented group of software engineers leading the development of client trading infrastructure serving hundreds of clients. As a Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain the front-to-back trading infrastructure covering all aspects of the trading life-cycle including order management, exchange connectivity, smart order routing, internalization, and clearing.

  • Design, build, and maintain proprietary, low-latency trading systems and infrastructures
  • Produce powerful trading tools leveraging high-performance systems
  • Improve the scalability and performance of trading infrastructure
  • Understand future business needs and design technical solutions to meet these demands
  • Handle a wide variety of projects, from frontend-facing projects to backend infrastructure, each in different programming languages

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field or experience
  • 3+ years of experience building and designing distributed and scalable software in Java/C++
  • Driven, self-starting personality; employees are expected to demonstrate peer leadership and initiative early on
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in Python (desired but not required)
  • Experience in distributed and/or highly concurrent systems (desired but not required)
  • Experience in low-latency systems and/or high transaction environments (desired but not required)
  • Experience working in collaborative environments (desired but not required)
  • Experience with relational databases (desired but not required)

  • $175k–$200k base salary
