About the Role

Join the exchange trading development team (ETD) to build and maintain XTX Markets' proprietary trading technology. You will work on the complete spectrum of trading systems—from interpreting market data to dispatching orders and designing infrastructure. This role offers unusually wide scope, enabling cross-domain optimisations across the entire trading stack. You'll tackle both smaller projects and large-scale initiatives to improve systems and unlock new opportunities, working with technologies primarily in C++ and Python, with exposure to FPGA and GPU programming. Your code runs in a dynamic, mission-critical environment trading over USD $250 billion daily in completely automated fashion.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of modern C++ (C++11 onwards)
  • Strong understanding of what really is going on inside a computer when code is running, for example caching, paging and system calls, as well as how these work and why they work like that
  • Knowledge of the execution pipeline in a modern CPU (when instructions are executed out of order, why, how the branch target is predicted for an indirect call) is even better
  • Good familiarity with common algorithms and data structures and their performance trade-offs, as well as the ability to reason about the running time of algorithms you haven't seen before
  • Practical experience designing and implementing software systems is a plus
  • Familiarity with the Linux command line and common tools is a plus but by no means a necessity
  • Prior finance knowledge is not required
  • A computer science degree is not necessarily a prerequisite
