About the Role

Tower Research Capital's Core Engineering department is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Data team in Hong Kong. This person will work closely with the Data Services Team, Portfolio Management Teams, and other IT teams to ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of our data systems.

  • Design, implement, and maintain the infrastructure necessary to support the firm's data management processes, including storage, compute, and networking resources at a large scale (petabytes, tens of thousands of simultaneous requests)
  • Design, build, and maintain the data pipelines and systems necessary to support the firm's fundamental data analysis and trading strategies
  • Collaborate with data scientists, portfolio managers, and traders to understand their data requirements and develop solutions to meet their needs

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience
  • A strong background in network programming, multithreading, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming, with proficiency in Python and Rust and/or C++
  • Strong data analysis skills, including the ability to identify anomalies
  • Familiarity with trading environments, including asset classes and execution
  • Familiarity with Arrow/Parquet-based data lake architectures such as Iceberg, and data processing tools such as DuckDB and Acero, and Kubernetes
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
